This class will discuss the super adobe earth bag building technique for use in emergency situations. These shelters can be placed for temporary use (a few weeks) or for long term use (years) and are often even cheaper than the tents used for refugee camps. This technique is so simple that you can teach it to a child, although results are best when the method has been practiced. These structures are some of the cheapest to build, using materials you could find anywhere in the world and are essentially fire proof, flood proof and will stand up to an 8.0 earthquake. We’ll also discuss other ways that the super adobe method can be used in emergency situations. Unfortunately, this will not be a hands on class, but we are putting together a list of those interested in a hands on class in the near future.
