Shanon Brooks: "TJed and College: Getting a World Class Thomas Jefferson Education Wherever You Attend"
(Many parents spend ten to fifteen years pouring love, time, and money into the home schooling elementary and secondary educations of their children. These parents who are the epitome of loving, protective and concerned guardians, invest all that they have only to send their young
adults unprepared into a collegiate world that in many cases, is the exact environment they worked so hard from which to shield their children.
College is not what you think it is, and it most certainly is not what you experienced twenty, thirty, or forty years ago. This class is designed to give you a sense of what lies before you in the college decision years, provide you with “TJed college options” or show how to stay on the TJed track, regardless what school your student attends.
Shanon Brooks is a co-founder and president of Monticello College, a small liberal arts “New American Founder” college located on the Colorado Plateau in southeastern Utah. He has over twenty-two years experience in teaching and the administration of entrepreneurial higher education organizations. He has taught over 450 “Face to Face With Greatness” seminars in the United States from coast to coast and in Canada. He is the former president of George Wythe University, and one of four founders of the Center for Social Leadership. Co-author of A Thomas Jefferson Education for Teens, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, a Master’s degree in education, and a PhD in constitutional law. He is a veteran of military service in the United States Naval Submarine Fleet and lives in Monticello, Utah with his wife Julia and their children.
